The
idyllic existence of Georges and Albin is threatened when
Georges' son announces his engagement to the daughter of a
rightwing politician, who wants to close down the local
colourful nightlife. With a visit from the prospective
in-laws imminent, they all decide to take drastic action to hide
their lifestyle .... but can they keep it?
La Cage Aux Folles is a timeless and deliciously funny tale
of family values, unconditional love, and above all, the need to
celebrate who we are. It is the basis of the hit 1996 film
The Birdcage that starred Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene
Hackman and Dianne Weist.
Jerry Herman's fabulous score includes 'I Am What I am', 'The
Best of Times' and 'Song on the Sand'.

If

Musical Society presents another original, Australian musical,
Hot Shoe Shuffle.
Hot Shoe Shuffle tells the hilarious story of The Tap Brothers,
a madcap dance act who learn that they stand to inherit their
long lost fathers fortune providing they can reproduce his
famous tap dancing act, and include in it a previously unknown
sister who doesn’t seem to have a dancing bone in her body.
‘The Hot Shoe Shuffle’ is performed to the wonderful
songs of Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and
Cab Calloway and the tap dancing is some of the most
exhilarating ever to shake a theatre floor. |
